  • Is baking your hobby or passion, something you do for fun, friends, and family? Then this category is for you. You will be judged against your sweetest peers.
  • Do you market and sell your tasty treats, to a bakery, restaurant, or direct to customers for special events? Then this category is for you. You will be judged against your sweetest, professional peers.

This friendly, community competition let bakers shine in two areas: flavor and artistry. Both professionals and amateurs were invited to participate and were judged separately by our guest celebrity judges: Rosemary Wagner of RAW Art and Rob Martin from The Seafood Shack. We had 4 professional bakers and 7 amateurs enter the competition.
Each baker presented two dozen of their fanciest and tastiest cupcakes. There was no theme to this first competition. One cupcake from each entrant was used for judging and the rest were available for sale to the public. Thank you to Melissa Lamont-Gordon for sponsoring this event!

The winners were:

Artistry - Professional

Louise LoveJoy / LJCakeCraft:

 Stickey Toffee Pudding

Artistry - Amateur

and

Flavor - Amateur

Isabella Benevente:

 Chocolate Raspberry

Flavor - Professional

Maryann Boho / The Williamsburg Chocolatier:

Chocolate Raspberry

People's Choice Natasa Monroe / Nana's Baklava & Sweet Treats: Walnut Pistachio Chocolate Baklava Cupcake

Other competitors were Kimberly Cortes / The Baker's Daughter, Joyce Pully, Lesley Neely / Canine Companions, Diane Grice, Lorraine Walsh (pictured above with her Starry Night cupcake display), Martha Hayes, and Mary Jeannette Fraser.

Thank you to everyone who participated. We raised $700 to support Bay School classes and programs.
The entry fee to compete was $10, with these funds going to cash awards for the winners in five categories: best tasting and most artistic in amateur and professional, and people's choice.
